Trabant 601

Karosérie z plastu, malý dvoutaktní motor, řadicí páka pod volantem a bílý dým po nastartování. Všechno tohle patřilo k vozidlu, které bylo v Německé demokratické republice vyráběno bez větších změn přes třicet let

Ve své době byl Trabant 601 velmi progresivním automobilem, který byl jako první v masové míře vyráběn z plastů. Poháněl ho dvoutaktní, vzduchem chlazený dvouválec o výkonu 26 koní. Vybaven byl čtyřstupňovou převodovkou s volnoběžkou. Na přání byla montována poloautomatická spojka Hycomat. Trabant 601 byl k dostání ve třech stupních výbavy ("Standard", "S" a "de Luxe") a ve dvou karosářských variantách – Limousine a Universal (Combi). Mimo to byla vyráběna i verze Tramp s plátěnou střechou a plátěnými dveřmi, která byla využívána východoněmeckou policií a později byla k dispozici i v civilním provedení.
