Seminole, TX, if possible. Not a lot of caches there.
This trackable made possible by: Amy Logan Pitcox
I remember the first time I ever said, "I hate you" to my mother. I was about 8 years old. I was sitting in her lap, cradled in her arms. She started crying so hard. When she could finally muster words she asked me, "Why did you say that?" still choking back more tears. "I don't know," I responded. Over the years she would continue to reiterate that words have power.
One time in particular I was a teenager and she and I were talking on the phone before she came to Ohio for my sister's wedding. She said, "Joshua, you know they call those curse words for a reason. They have power. But, the more you use them, the less power they have." That one stuck.
She and I were both into language. Playing with it. Double meanings and deep references were my personal favorites. How something as simple as referencing candy bars can conjure up so many things, from a silly movie to elusions to music.
I've come to appreciate the three gates speech should pass through: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necesary?
Or the mnemonic THINK: Is it True? Helpful? Inspiring? Necessary? Kind?
Thank you. I'm sorry. I love you.
Origins of "hido," K.D., and the road trip
"Hido" was a greeting my mother, Kathy Bruce started saying in the mid-nineties. It was a consolidation of, "Hi, how are you doing?" into one word. Like Namaste for Enlgish speakers.
Mom's middle initial was "D". Katie was the name of her grandmother (her mom's mom). First initial plus middile initial, phonetically results in the same sound.
The Hido K.D. Road Trip is a tribute to my mother who passed away March 1st, 2019. She loved road trips and traveling. These trackables let her keep doing so for however long they last..
