About This Item

Rockin Roddy's Cachestalker Coin - Front

This coin is being released as part of the Todie's Wild Ride Bike Awareness Project initiated by Rockin Roddy in response to the death of his good friend Tod Phillips. On August 12, 2008, Tod was riding a motorcycle when he was killed in an accident caused by a left turning vehicle. Tod was one third of Team Rod & Tod w/KAboom. This coin is released in his memory and in memory of all motorcyclists killed on the road.

Not being a motorcyclist myself, I can only imagine the dangers that they face everyday. Part of the problem is that vehicle drivers (car, truck) don't fully understand the consequences of their actions on the road with regards to motorcycles. Cars and trucks share the road everyday with motorcyclist, bicyclist and pedestrian, yet seem to think that they deserve to be on the road above the others.

As part of this coins journey, I would like to collect different tips for drivers to be more aware of motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. Feel free to add any tips you wish to the logs to share with others.

I will start off: Motorcycles and bicycles are smaller and therefore easier to lose in a car’s blind spot. Please double check before changing lanes.

For some additional reading, I have found a couple of websites to share with you regarding driving safely around motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. http://www.forcardrivers.com/
www.sharetheroadsafely.org/

Please take care out there. Someone life may depend on it.
