I’m not sure if Sundays are a special day to visit this place or if the wetlands were having some kind of promotion, but the parking lot was absolutely insane! It took me about ten minutes of circling and wiggling around just to find a spot to park. From there, it was still a 15-minute walk to Ground Zero, but I really enjoyed exploring the rejuvenated area along the way.
Malaysia’s first artificial wetlands were both interesting and lively, and as I walked toward GZ, I couldn’t help but wonder what animals I might encounter. I didn’t end up meeting any animals, but I soon spotted the very large lookout tower. The hint didn’t offer much, so I made a few assumptions and started climbing. Even though it wasn’t particularly warm today, I broke a sweat pretty quickly.
At the top, I was greeted by a giant security camera staring right at me, and I began to wonder whether it was really necessary to come all the way up here. Several seekers had mentioned being unable to access this area, and there was even one false find logged. But I decided to take on the challenge anyway, perhaps a bit too seriously.
One of the past finders had commented that there weren’t many possible hiding spots for a cache here, and that turned out to be absolutely true. I had to laugh when I finally saw it, because I couldn’t believe my eyes. With the recent renovations, the cache container had actually been painted over and had become part of the tower itself.
It took a little bit of gentle force to get it unstuck, but the real challenge came next. The small container was completely sealed shut with a layer of paint. Luckily, I had one of my travel bugs with me and used it to scrape the paint off. After some clacking and clicking, I finally got the cache open and found a log that hadn’t been signed since 2023. It even contained the original logs from 2016, which was really nice to see.
I signed with my Sharpie, took in the great view from the top, and snapped some photos with my travel bugs before heading back down. What an adventure!

The last cache of the day was this interesting outdoor learning center, which seemed like a nice place for the kids, with some people who care about learning out in nature. A nice and big cache dedicated to those young learners!

Bummer to be so close to an 4TF and the cache is gone. The nano here has disappeared, but that didn’t stop this TB from accompanying me for a few minutes to search for it…!

Whoops. I mixed up the logs, the previous one was supposed to come to this cache. Anyway, all was said in the log before. For the previous cache, it was a quick park & grab along an unused road, with a little film canister found quickly. Easy peasy!

This was the last stash I planned to visit before leaving the airport area and heading back towards KL on my exciting day. I drove around and saw that all exits were closed to the parking lot, but what caught my attention even more was the dashing display of flashing lights just under the large sign for the track. A dozen or more police cruisers were aligned with lights flashing, and all the cops on outside on the lot. I suppose it was a big photoshoot, and I was crashing their party. I had to hope that minor parking violations did not entice them today, as I made a U-turn and parked in front of the closed gate. I snapped a photo of them and then drove to the other gate, right next to GZ. I hopped out and quickly found the cache, hidden in a manner similar to a few around the airport. At one point I got a little sweaty as one of the cars headed my way, but luckily sped off towards the highway. No issue logging this little cache here!

I love plane spotting and I was not expecting this giant airport to have an actual plane spotting platform, raised and accessible even with seating. This was really delightful to see something like this in Asia! The cache container is tiny tiny but I’m happy we visited!

A fun puzzle by a pretty legendary CO was a great way to spice up this day.

on October 18, I solve this cash during my solving marathon. I was hoping that it would be a little bit closer to the terminal so that we can pick it up on one of our flights. I think it wouldn’t be too much of a spoiler, if I said that it was a bit further from the terminal, but it seemed like a convenient stop. As I got closer, I saw the path on OSM leading towards the cash. And I thought that this would be a fun adventure. Unfortunately, though the pass has a gate over it and is in accessible. I did not conveniently have our bike when I came to the airport, so I decided to park on the first lot I saw. But then when I saw the distance to cover, the laziness took over. And so I decided to come to the original spot where I had parked , and walk out from there. I did see a lot of nature and at one point I was a little anxious that I might run into snakes, which is a crazy thought. Snakes at the airport? Why on earth! But luckily, I did not encounter any live animals along the way, other than a few cyclists and the occasional driver. when I got to Ground Zero, it was quite clear where I would find the cash, which I quickly did. The cash container had some humidity and moisture inside, this luckily did not matter too much to the waterproof logbook inside. I stamped in our neck, but realized that before I even managed to take a photo, the ink had spilled around. and so I added a short message by hand, and was happy for the find here from a legendary CO.

This is not only a pretty convenient park & grab, but it’s also a cache not often seen in this country. A micro lock & lock container in pristine condition, with a nice logbook. Great stop here with this TB by my side, next to the road!
