3000 Cache Milestone Coin and Tag Set

I am a Marylander cacher, but recently had the opportunity to go to Minnesota -- I used the project GC site and mapped out all the Jasmer, Fizzy Grid, and highly favorited caches in the area I was going to be in --

Cache 3000 was uneventful - https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3F1C , but a nearby cache produced the following story -- A 20,000 find tribute cache is in the same park - https://coord.info/GC7XW0J -

A tribute cache in the same park right along the way back to my parked car -- I think I will...Got to GZ and found the cache -- not quite the D/T as written on the page, but I found it,  added my John Hancock with a short description of my adventure and off I went; I had a list to go after.

Later that night, I got a message from the cache owner -- that was not the cache, please delete the find... Oh NO!

The CO knew from my description that something was amiss -- I would be relatively nearby the following day -- geocaching relative is a few hours drive right?

As I went about my morning the next day, I got another message from the CO saying he did a maintenance run and indeed found the fake me out bison -- it was evidently an archived cache from well over a decade ago -- He assured me that it there and it was memorable and that I should go for it again; He also invited me to an event that I had not seen nor planned for.

SO, I did find the 20,000the tribute -- it was worth a return trip and the event had a huge turn out and showed me just how great the Minnesota cacher community is....

It's not just about the numbers, sometimes the stories, vistas and people take this game to the next level
