Thank you to bloodycool for the idea of this trackable.
It was December 2, 2021, when a vehicle went through a red light and
T-Boned my geo-mobile at the drivers door. This collision gave me multible
fractures in my left ankle, left leg and left hip, and hairline fractures in the left
shoulder, right hip and sacrum.
The hairline fractures are expected to heal on their own, but the left ankle,
leg and hip required surgery. I spent four days at Suburban Hospital in
Bethesda, MD and ten days at a Rehab Center.
I had to go seven weeks with no weight bearing on my left foot, which
temporarily halted the fun of geocaching for me. The geocaching
community, and family, did pitch in, and helped me with maintaining my
1,411 hides, and made sure I was able to still collect any souvenirs which
were available during this time.
This trackable will be attached to my walker, crutches, cane and hiking
sticks as I continue my recovery, and reach that goal of getting back on to
the trails. I thank EVERYONE for the prayers, will wishes, helping out with
maintenace, car rides, and even for hosting events in my driveway.
Current update: February 4th will be the end of my in home therapy. I'll then
start six weeks of outpatient therapy. In home, I'm getting around with one
crutch. In my driveway, I've been walking the 80 feet to the mailbox with two
crutches, then the 80 feet back to the house. Still not ready to hit the trails,
but park and grabs have been completed with family and friends. I have
done a few adventure labs being pushed to each location in a transport
chair. As for CITO's, I'll hang out in the parking lot with the walker and
grabber. Can't wait until I can get back out on the trails.
