About This Item
Riding a motorcycle, you are far more likely to get in an accident and far more likely to get hurt than if you are driving a car.
That's a fact.
In fact, according to The US Highway Safety Authority, in 2002 20.9 cars out of 100,000 ended up in fatal crashes. The rate for motorcycles is 66.7 per 100,000.
That means that you are 209% more likely to be in a fatal crash on a motorcycle.
But, don't give your bike away.....
So, why do most motorcycle accidents happen?
"The failure of motorists to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic is the predominating cause of motorcycle accidents. The driver of the other vehicle involved in collision with the motorcycle did not see the motorcycle before the collision, or did not see the motorcycle until too late to avoid the collision."
Sooo.....Use your lights, wear reflective clothing- Make sure you are seen!
This coin is in memory of Todie Phillips of Manitou Beach, MI. He passed away August 12 2008 as a result of a motorcycle accident, he was only 49 years old.
