Viking Dragon Shield
The front of this beautiful Geocoin is designed after a traditional wooden Viking shield. The wood grain came out perfectly, you can even see the nails. The edge is made to look like pieces of metal placed like scales and nailed to the shield. The dragon design on the shield has been chosen to make it more complete. The runes around the edge on the back are for you to decipher, as you can also deduct from the text in the middle. That text is a verse from the Hávamál, part of the Edda, a collection of Old Norse poems from the Viking age. To complete the design there is a Viking/Celtic knot as background for the text.
The seven Editions are based on the Viking gods:
Asgård - (LE 75) The world of the gods.
Helheim - (RE) The icy Viking underworld.
Mjølner - (LE 75) Thor's hammer with which he makes lightning.
Sleipner - (RE) The eight-legged flying horse of Odin.
Valhal - (AE 15) The Viking paradise.
Valkyries - (RE) Beautiful warrior women on flying horses, who bring the fallen brave Viking warriors to Valhalla.
Yggdrasil - (RE) The giant tree at the junction of the universe. All life is derived from this tree.
