Current GOAL

Please drop this item in rural OR Premium Member Only caches.  Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event.  Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean and prevents tangling with other items.  Otherwise, take the travel bug anywhere you wish.  No permission is needed to leave the U.S.

Travel bug photos in the logs are appreciated.  I will re-post them here, where they can be seen by other cachers.

About This Item

This is one of a series of large beads obtained from different places and converted into travel bugs.  They are named for Texas towns with interesting names or histories.

The Frognot community was located east of Blue Ridge, in Collin County.  It once had a store and a school.  There is no longer evidence of these structures but the Frognot water district still survives.  The water tower/standpipe has a frog painted on it.   Frognot received most of its publicity from Ira Boren, a Frognot ham operator and Otis Dixon, whose general store was once full of ceramic frogs given to him by customers.

The name is also spelled Frog Not.  There are several theories as to where the name came from. One is that the area had an abundance of frogs. They killed the frogs and became known as Frognot.  Another theory is that the boys brought frogs to school.  The school adopted a no frog policy.  Some people say the name is actually Frog Nod because the frogs are singing when they nod off to sleep.
