About This Item
This trackable made possible by: Angel Runnels
My mom owned a house turned apartment. Altogether there were five possible apartments but mom took the entire second floor because of structural concerns in one of those apartments and to make room for her kiln to poor ceramics and give herself a sizeable office.
She was always taking in strays - humans that is - we often called them "People in transition." She used to talk about the magic of the third floor apartment. She said anyone who moved into that apartment usually only stayed for a year and then would have found a job or finished school or whatever it was and then they would move on. I've been in transition a few times myself and have always been grateful to those who have helped me in those times.
Origins of "hido," K.D., and the road trip
"Hido" was a greeting my mother, Kathy Bruce started saying in the mid-nineties. It was a consolidation of, "Hi, how are you doing?" into one word. Like Namaste for Enlgish speakers.
Mom's middle initial was "D". Katie was the name of her grandmother (her mom's mom). First initial plus middile initial, phonetically results in the same sound.
The Hido K.D. Road Trip is a tribute to my mother who passed away March 1st, 2019. She loved road trips and traveling. These trackables let her keep doing so for however long they last..
