Cent in front of the 17’th street canal flood gate It’s not from the 1800’s but it is still historical. Cent is sitting in front of the 17’th street canal. This is one of the infamous canals that breeched during hurricane Katrina last year. This particular breech flooded most of the central part of New Orleans. The Army corps of Engineers promised the gates would be ready be the start of the next hurricane season. Well, the season started a couple months ago, and as you can see, they are still not finished.
