Breakneck Creek, looking back at Port Craig This used to be the end of a low tide beach shortcut from Te Whata. Apparently beach erosion has made this difficult now. Anyone know what it's like and whether it's passable at a low tide (and if so, what tide level is safe)?

Coin with beech fungus at Camp Creek, Port Craig Saw this fungus just off the Port Craig track, growing on a beech tree root. Have never seen anything this huge, have no idea what it is - and our local enthusiast katie_w doesn't know either. So let's just say "massive beech fungus".

Hemideina maori Taken on my first ever visit to the Rock and Pillar range in 1984, conditions that day were warm and sunny, ideal for seeking out these large insects among the rocks.
