En route to Kandahar, Afghanistan 2 Here, Flotte Socke is seen perched on the Heads-Up Display (HUD) of the Captain's seat in the cockpit of an RAF C-17 Globemaster aircraft. The Captain graciously gave his permission for this photograph to be take to prove that we were flying at the time! Unfortunately, the text on the HUD is difficult to read but it shows that we were at an altitude of about 35,000 feet (around 11,000m).

En route to Basra, Iraq On a trip to Basra in Iraq, the Flotte Socke is seen on the seat of an RAF VC-10 transport aircraft. The VC-10 is now (since the retirement of concorde) the fastest passenger aircraft in the world
