Papa Dip at the Stax Studio Here you see Papa Dip across the street from a reconstruction of the studio used for recording sessions for the Stax label Stax artists included Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Carla Thomas, Booker T. & the MG's, and The Bar-Kays. The recently deceased Isaac Hayes was involved in producing records for Stax.

Papa Dip TB at Sun Studio The Papa Dip trumpet is sitting on my hat on top my cachemobile. In the background is the place where the recording engineer Sam Phillips discovered a young fellow named Elvis Presley, and recorded Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Roy Orbison, as well as a number of blues artists.

The Father of the Blues - W.C. Handy Statue W.C. Handy lived in Memphis and got his start on Beale Street. He and his band were among the first to draw upon the blues as a form of traditional folk music and transform it into a genre of popular music. In this view, the Papa Dip TB is sitting on the base of the statue.
