Geese 2 As you can see in this close-up picture, Ida was, however, turned the wrong way...eye-side out. But since we had already enjoyed such wonderful adventures together, I gladly read her the information written there beside her about Canadian geese. In the end, we said a tearful farewell and hoped Ida the best with the next friend she met along her journeys. Farewell, Ida!

Geese 1 A few miles from the Missouri river, we stopped by a very nice park on the edge of an oxbow lake which once (almost 200 years ago) was actually a part of the Missouri river. We saw this information on Ida's close cousins, Canadian geese and she simply *had* to be taken over to get a look. You can just see her in this pickture, balancing atop the lock which holds the doors to this display closed.

Missouri River It was a nicer day the day we stopped by the far west side of Iowa, and there was even a beach for Ida! However, the weather was a bit cool, so sunbathing was out of the question. She did, however, take her leisure upon a few stacked stones on the edge of the river and posed for a few tasteful shots.

Mississippi River Once she'd extricated herself from her overly-patriotic cousins, she posed here with her friend, LinkDeath in front of the fourth-largest river in the world, the mighty Mississippi, legend in story and song. It was rather overcast and more than a little rainy as well, but that's all water off a duck's back...so to speak. After a bit of a splash, we continued on our way west.

Eagles Nest Ida decided to hitch a ride with us as we travelled out to the far reaches of Iowa to visit my folks. On the way, she noticed this location, and couldn't help but stop by to chew the insects...so to speak. The neighbors were a bit stuck-up, however, and anyway, she was more interested in the water nearby.
