Overlooking Kachemak Bay, Homer, Alaska Kachemak Bay's community of Homer houses the headquarters of the Alaska Maritime Wildlife Refuge, which stretches across Alaska's southern maritime frontier all the way west to the end of the Aleutian Islands. The Islands and Oceans Research and Visitor Center in Homer was built using settlement money from the Exxon Valdez oil spill incident as a part of the Refuge, and is surrounded by the stunning beauty of Kachemak Bay.
