Tortoise family A popular group of Wade pieces in the Potteries. This family belonged to my grandmother I think, then to my mother, and now belongs to my niece. The largest tortoise is a trinket holder, having a removable shell.

Young and Old Scamp (from the Lady and the Tramp) is one of the oldest Whimsies, dating from around 1956 I think. The Cockerel is one of the youngest, as I bought it this weekend from the Ceramica shop while I was in Burslem taking photos.

Burslem Town Hall The town hall is now the home of "Ceramica", an exhibition about the history and production of ceramics, particularly in "The Potteries".

Whimsie Plaque The plaque was dry, although it doesn't look it. I think the colour must be from the red paint on the brickwork.

The Wade factory in Burslem A prominent building, at the top of a steep hill (check out the name of the factory on the plaque near the roof!), with the brick work painted red.
