Top view of petrified log This is the top of the log, where it seems to have been broken off. If one looks closely one can see some of the rings, and that the outer rim looks rather like the 'liner' between the bark and the tree and even the bark itself.

With a Petrified Log I found this petrified log on my property a few years ago. When I first saw it I thought it was a log and tried to nudge it out of the way...then found it to be made of stone!
Some have disputed this to be petrified wood as there is no volcanic activity here...however, there was a glacier that melted and formed the bluffs in the backwash, which deposited stone, fossils and petrified logs onto said bluffs eons ago. They were covered up with dirt and trees grew in, and they come up with exc

Oregon Thunderhead TB with Geode I found this geode on my property. Note the cool smokey quartz crystals by the geocoin. These stones are common here and many people decorate them with Hens n' Chicks, as shown here.
