If one looks closely one can see some of the rings, and that the outer rim looks rather like the 'liner' between the bark and the tree and even the bark itself. 15 Aug 10 View Image With a Petrified Log I found this petrified log on my property a few years ago. When I first saw it I thought it was a log and tried to nudge it out of the way...then found it to be made of stone! Some have disputed this to be petrified wood as there is no volcanic activity here...however, there was a glacier that melted and formed the bluffs in the backwash, which deposited stone, fossils and petrified logs onto said bluffs eons ago.
