Drive along US Route-27 Appeared in 1926, replacing western route of the Dixie Highway in many places. Designated a Memorial Highway by the Florida State Legislature. It was named after long-time Senator & congressman Claude Pepper. Route runs from Miami, FL thru Michigan.

Traveling on Florida's Interstate-4 From the day President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, the Interstate System has been a part of our culture. The 1st I-4 segment opened 1959. Current route completed in 1971, 132 miles - Tampa to Daytona Beach.

Staying in Polk County, Florida Became Florida's 39th county in 1861, when the State divided Hillsborough County in to halves. The eastern half was named Polk, in honor of the 11th President of the United States, James Knox Polk. 4th largest FL county & is larger than Rhode Island.

Traveling through Hillsborough County, Florida Borders the Gulf of Mexico & was created in 1834 as the 19th Florida county. Named for Wills Hill, Earl of Hillsborough & British Colonial Secretary of State from 1768-1772. Currently, the 4th most populous county in Florida and 32nd in the nation.

Visiting Plant City, Florida Renamed in 1885 to honor railroad tycoon, Henry B. Plant. Originally named Ichepucksassa after an Indian village then named Cork. Originally known as a large cotton center; now its strawberries. Produces 3/4s of the nation's midwinter strawberries.
