2 Oct 04 View Image Small notice on the counter. I was about to leave the store after taking the picture of the Coffee Bean Pig when I spotted this norice on the counter. I don't recall seeing it before, and I pondered for a bit. I recalled that Selby's Coffee Mecca TB was a "normal" Starbucks card, and I decided that the owner of THIS Travel Bug might like to have one of these cards, so I asked about getting one. Well, you have to buy a minimum of $5.00 on the card, so I did. Now I'll have to visit Starbucks a few times to use up the ca 2 Oct 04 View Image The TB and the Starbucks Apron. I asked the fellow working behind the counter if I could get a picture of him holding the Travel Bug, which is when I learned that I wold not be allowed to take pictures of the employees. He finally agreed to let me take this picture if he was not identifiable from the picture. Note the mermaid on the apron. This is the "current" mermaid logo. [:)] 2 Oct 04 View Image Coffee Bean Pig!! I was quite surprised today to discover this Pig emerging from a bag of coffee beans! I had not seen this sculpture before, but it is set right over the front door to the store! I had the impression it was actually made from coffee beans. I asked a clerk in the store, and was told that it had been there for at least 3 years. 2 Oct 04 View Image Another shot. The other two pictures of the Travel Bug look much like this one, with the Travel Bug all washed out. This image is a bit better than the other, so I'm posting it as well, as you can see the area behind the counter much better.
2 Oct 04 View Image The TB on the counter. This picture, although the darkest of three I took here, seems to be the best for the Travel Bug, which is set on the counter where customers pick up their beverages. 2 Oct 04 View Image The Chef at work. Another shot of the same area, but this time I didn't try to get the ceiling in the picture. 2 Oct 04 View Image Waiting for Godot? I took this picture before I learned that I wasn't to take pictures of the staff. The map would be to the left in this picture. Note the unfinished ceiling. The heating ducts are completely exposed. 2 Oct 04 View Image Starbucks map. This map is on the North Wall behind the Barista's counter. I don't know exactly what the "stickers" represent, but I thought it looked interesting.
1 Oct 04 View Image View of North wall. Turning to your left as you enter you would see a row a shelves running from the front of the store (West Side) to the back counter where the Barista works. The store was quite crowded when I was there today, and it was after 6 PM to the sun was low in the sky. 1 Oct 04 View Image Photo on counter. This photograph rests on the counter to the right of the First Starbucks Plaque. I never did find any details as to what the picture represents. There is also an old newspaper clipping, but when I looked over it I didn't see anything about Starbucks mentioned. Odd. To the right of this photograph is where they store the sugar and assorted other condiments. 1 Oct 04 View Image First Starbucks Plaque The first time I enteered this store I completely missed seeing this plaque. It stands on a pedastel about 4 feet tall, and *should* be what one sees on entering the store. Anyway I was able to set the TB onto the plaque for this picture. 1 Oct 04 View Image The >original< Starbucks logo. Although I drink coffee, I don't frequent coffee shops. So I learned a bit about this history of Starbucks when I visited this store in May. The mermaids in this picture are the "original" design. Aside from stylistic issues in the current logo, the mermaid in this logo does not have her breasts covered. I was told that this is the only place in "Starbucks Land" where this is true.
1 Oct 04 View Image A second view. I noticed after I took the first picture that a car had driven past right as I took the shot, so I took this second picture. As I looked at this prior to posting I realized that the shadow cast upon the SUV is mine. [:)] 1 Oct 04 View Image View of Starbucks #1 from across the street. I took this picture today because the last time I was here I had not noticed the large letters above the store. When viewed from this angle, I arrived at the store from the right-hand side of the frame, on the opposite side of the street. (That happens to be to the South.) Anyway I was rather surprised at how unostentatious the sign was. 11 Sep 04 View Image The little mug with another espresso machine. This is a Verismo espresso machine used by real baristas at Starbucks on Belleview and Ulster in Denver, CO. If you look closely, you can see that a real barista made a real cappuccino in this little mug! 11 Sep 04 View Image The little mug with an espresso machine. This is a Barista espresso machine...candy apple red...gotta love espresso!
7 Sep 04 View Image Ellensburg, WA This is at the Starbucks near I-90. We stopped there for breakfast on our way into town. The end of the journey at last! 7 Sep 04 View Image Yakima, WA The barristas there were quite friendly and sympathetic. The poster says "a journey lies within". 7 Sep 04 View Image Twin Falls, ID This is a Starbucks cafe inside of a Barnes and Noble near the main drag out of town towards the interstate. 6 Sep 04 View Image Feeling Right At Home Again "Starbucks I" visited Starbucks on North Highlands Ranch Parkway in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
