I am dropping you off near one of my favorite writers memorial, Ernest Hemingway in Sun Valley, Idaho. I wish you the best on your next travels! A bronze bust and plaque can be found overlooking Trail Creek. It is a beautiful area so peaceful and calm. A fitting way to pay tribute. He wrote classics like The Sun Also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Old Man and the Sea, and A Farewell to Arms. On a 1954 trip to Africa, he was seriously injured in two plane accidents on successive days, leaving him in pain and ill health for much of the rest of his life. On July 2, 1961, the Nobel Prize-winning author was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head at his home in Ketchum. 26 Oct 23 View Image On September 8, 1974, Knievel attempted to jump across the Snake River Canyon in Idaho using a rocket-powered cycle called the Skycycle X-2. The jump failed due to a parachute malfunction, but Knievel survived with minor injuries. ????????? Throughout his career, he attempted more than 75 ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps. Knievel was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999. ??????? The Perrine Bridge is a popular BASE jumping site known all over the world; it is the only man-made structure in the United States where BASE jumping is allowed year-round without a permit. To the east, along the south rim of the canyon, lies the dirt ramp used by Evel Knievel when he unsuccessfully attempted his Snake River Canyon jump on the Skycycle X-2 in September 1974. ??? ?? Mantle played his entire Major League Baseball (MLB) career (1951–1968) with the New York Yankees, primarily as a center fielder. He was an American League (AL) Most Valuable Player three times and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
