Mat hiked to the lighthouse hill Rottnest Island lies about 30 minutes of the coast of Fremantle near Perth in Western Australia. A popular holiday spot, it was named after it's local Quokka inhabitants by the Dutch 1696 "Rotte nest" (meaning "rat nest").

Mat surfing on Wave Roack Wave Rock is a natural rock formation that is shaped like a tall breaking ocean wave 14 m (47 ft) high and 110 m (350 ft) long. It is part of Hyden Rock,a 2.63 billion year-old granite inselberg, 4.5 hours inland from Perth.

Mat visited the Minus 5 Ice Bar, Queenstown The walls, cieling, floor and everything inside the bar was made of ice. Even the glasses were made of ice. Of course, to Soldier Mat, fresh from Europe, it wasn't that cold!

Mat in Auckland Mat wasn't particularly happy standing so close to this part of the Mouri totem but unfortunately, these totems are almost always carved so 'graphically' so he had no choice.

Mat took a stroll through Wellington's gardens It was a long way down but Mat climbed up on the railing for the terrific view and was not disappointed. Wellington, New Zealand's capital was quite a sight.
