The name of Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona, is derived from its shape, which resembles the hump and head of a kneeling camel. The mountain, a prominent landmark of the Phoenix metropolitan area, is located in the Camelback Mountain Echo Canyon Recreation Area between the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix and the town of Paradise Valley. It is a popular recreation destination for hiking and rock climbing.
15 Sep 21 View Image John Grisham Goldbar @ The World's Largest Nickel. The Nickel is mounted between two telephone poles, facing the road, in a farm field in near Iowa City, Iowa. It is 16’ 3” across and weighs 4,000 lbs. It was built in 2006 as a local political protest of proposed new street speed limits by Jim Glasgow, who stills maintains it. It is on the east side of Dubuque St. NE/Hwy W66, just north of where it crosses the Iowa River. 7 Sep 21 View Image John Grisham Rocks!! Goldbar @ Papago Buttes. The Buttes are situated about 5 miles East of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, and contain a variety of outstanding landforms. They were formally declared Papago Saguaro National Monument in 1914 and are now protected within Papago Park. The Buttes are composed of steeply tilted beds of the Camels Head Formation. The beds tilt down to the SW and strike NW/SE. There is a 2.3 mile heavily trafficked trail that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. 1 Sep 21 View Image John Grisham Rocks!! Goldbar & Thumb Butte. Thumb Butte is a distinctive landmark just west of Prescott, AZ, and also a popular hiking destination. There are several trailheads, including one that gains about 600 feet in elevation in a little more than a mile with benches for resting and descriptive signs along the way. This area has an interesting mixture of vegetation with ponderosa pine, pinyon pine, scrub oak, manzanita, yucca, and cactus. The Prescott National Forest is a 1.25 million-acre US National Forest located in north central Arizona in the vicinity of Prescott. The forest is located in the mountains southwest of Flagstaff and north of Phoenix in Yavapai County, with a small portion extending into southwestern Coconino County. The Prescott Forest Reserve was established by the General Land Office on May 10, 1898. It was transferred to the U.S. Forest Service in 1906 and became a National Forest on March 4, 1907.

Goldbar @ Picacho Peak, AZ Located along I-10 in southern Arizona this prominent 1,500-foot peak in Picacho Peak State Park has hiking trails that wind up the peak and, often in the spring, overlook a sea of wildflowers. The park and surrounding area are known for its unique geological significance, outstanding and varied desert growth, and historical importance. The unique shape has been used as a landmark by travelers since prehistoric times. Goldbar & the Gulf of Calif The Gulf of California, aka the Sea of Cortés or less commonly as the Vermilion Sea, is a marginal sea of the Pacific Ocean that separates the Baja California Peninsula from the Mexican mainland. It has a coastline of approximately 2,500 miles. 6 rivers flow into it, including the Colorado. The surface of the gulf is about 62,000 square miles. Maximum depths exceed 9,800’ because of the complex geology, linked to plate tectonics.
