Upcountry Hawaii isn't just about the ocean. When you go inland away from the water, you go "upcountry ". This is the agricultural area. They raise coffee, some pineapple and some sugarcane, but not as much as they use to.
They also have some great restaurants. Here they are making pizzas in brick ovens. "No Ka Oi" means "is the best" and their best pizza is, you guessed it, Hawaiian! Local pineapple, Maui onions, and Portuguese sausage. This pizza no ka oi!

Turtles, turtles! Hard to see, but there are a bunch of large turtles (or honu) here. Five out of the world's seven species of turtles live here. They love to eat the sea grasses! It's illegal to harm or kill them and they are considered endangered.
