Thomas by a nearby vintage train This was in Kingston, on the south end of Wakatipu Lake. This train had been used to transport the "Lady of the Lake" from Dunedin. Then the steamship was re-assembled in 1912, and launched onto the lake.

We went from this cove to the next. The trail leads to Mare's Leg Cove, then you walk on the sand through the arch to Cathedral Cove. We really enjoyed the 45 minute or so walk needed to get here.

Thomas was here, you just can't see him. We found the real treasure after about a 20 minute walk through a forest very different than those of Alaska where Thomas began his travels.

Thomas near the Three-fer cache This turned out to be an excellent place for Thomas the Train travel bug to visit. Salt Creek was pretty, and we heard train whistles nearby. They were passing through Oakridge, Oregon like ICEman and I were.
