Freddie at Darwin's Lake Freddie was looking forward to a fresh water swim in Darwin's Lake. He was quite surprised to find out that the lake was salty, very salty. Sea water leaches in through the porous lava rocks and then evaporates leaving behind the mineral salts and creating a lake that is saltier than the ocean.
