Park in Stuttgart, Germany Despite its many high tech and industrial zones, Stuttgart is still a very green city. With a difference of about 350m between the lowest and the highest parts of the town it provides for many in-town forest areas, parks, wineyards etc. The former slogan was "metropolis between forests and wineyards"

Wineyards in Stuttgart, Germany Besides being one of Germany's major industrial and high tech centres with about 600.000 inhabitants, Stuttgart is also one of Germany's biggest wine cultivating communities. The gentle slopes above the Neckar river and its confluences provide fine grapes for some good wines (and some not so good ones)

Maurach, Tyrolia, Austria Maurach is at the southern end of the Lake Achensee. From here, a small creek runs down to the Inn River valley that crosses Tyrolia from east to west. The bigger towns all are located in the Inn valley. The descend to the Inn (at the left side of the picture) is quite steep.

Achensee (Lake Achen) The Achensee is Tyrolias biggest and deepest lake. It's about 9km long and 1-2km wide. The water is quite cold but very clean. Motorboats are forbidden with the exception of the water police and two or three pleasure boats the carry people on a fixed route between several "ports".

Steinberg, Tyrolia, Austria Steinberg is a small hamlet in a side valley of the Achental (Achen Valley). It's quite remote but very beautiful. This is the view towards East - you can see the foothills of the Tyrolian Alps. To the south the area is much more rugged.

Kotalm (lower part) in the Tyrolian Alps (Austria) This is the so called Niederleger (lower pasture) where the farmers first drive the cows in spring. If the weather gets better, they bring it higher up to the Mittelleger (middle pasture) and even up to the Hochleger (high pasture)
