Half-moon over Hope, Alaska The gold-rush era town of Hope lies to the south of dalli lamba across Turnagain Arm. Twice daily the second-highest tides in the world surge in and out of this arm of upper Cook Inlet on the northeast rim of the Pacific Ocean. Here along Anchorage's southern edge wildlife abounds - with eagles, moose, dall sheep, black bear, beluga whales, and brown bear to be found, as well as streams of migrating birds.
