Slave Huts Starting in the colonial days, slaves were used to work the salt lakes. The exterior of the huts have been restored. Each hut would house 4 to 6 slaves.

Salt - Bonaire's other industry Bonaire has two major industries. One is scuba diving and the other is solar salt generation. The salt generation has been around since the colonial days. Today, large earth moving vehicle, like you would see in mining operations, move the salt around and ready it for shipment. This salt will end up on the road in the northern latitudes or in our water softeners.

Flamingoes The flamingoes do not like the tourist and find many places to hide on the island. Many of them would fly away once they realized that they had been spotted.

Donkeys As the other major mammal on the island, these donkeys ignored the tourists.

Goats These goats seemed to puzzle over the many tourists stopping to take pictures of the landscape.

Rincon The market is at the bottom of the hill and a couple of blocks to the right. Since food and drink were on everyone’s mind, we failed to get a picture of the actual market. :(

Flamingo Reserve This is the lower portion of the Flamingo Reserve. I think that flamingoes knew that we were coming so they hid.

Waiting to go to next destination Here I am with Lonely Texan 12 waiting the MSP airport to board the plane for our next destination. It is snowing this morning so it will be nice to get to somewhere warm.
