Leo and the Western Diamond Rattlesnake This rattler is significantly larger than the Northern Pacific Rattlesnake, and it had quite a temper, too - it rattled its tail soon after I took this photo.
Good thing he's native only in Southern CA.

Western Fence Lizard and Leo The lizard will grow about an inch more before it becomes an adult. This is the lizard that's ubiquitous in the Bay Area.

Lizard on the Defensive The Southern Alligator Lizard is defending itself from my grasp, ready to bite anything within its reach!
This was before the lizard calmed down. This is what a wildlife is supposed to do, so I was happy for its strong survival instinct.

Leo & Southern Alligator Lizard As the name implies, this lizard resembles an alligator and is 14" long on average - quite large for a California lizard.
I had to wait for it to calm down before I could take a photo with Leo.
