Pacific Ocean at Coos Bay entrance While the lumber industry was near its peak in the 1950's - 1960's this was a very busy port. Billed as the "World's Largest Lumber Shipping Port," ships loaded logs & lumber products for Asia and South America. Most mills are now closed, and the few international ships now load mainly chips.
