The building is made from materials indigenous to Arizona, including malapai, granite, and the copper dome. The design is optimized for the desert climate, with thick masonry walls that insulate the interior and round bullseye clerestory windows to let heat out of the legislative chambers. On top is a weather vane similar to the Winged Victory of Samothrace. ?? Log image uploaded from Geocaching® app 12 Nov 23 View Image Happy Veterans Day to all that served!! ???? 11 Nov 23 View Image Stopped at the Salt Flats in Utah on my way to Salt Lake City. The salt flats are a remnant of the Pleistocene Lake Bonneville, which dried up. The lake was huge, filling much of the Great Basin. As the water continued to evaporate, salt deposits were left in many areas. It is an absolutely beautiful sight! ??
