Kayak meets "Cheese-box on a Raft" In the background is a full-scale replica of the "USS Monitor", which fought the "CSS Virginia" in the first battle between ironclads a few miles from here. Inside the Mariner's Museum you can see a re-creation of the interior spaces of both the "Monitor" & "Virginia", and view the actual turret from the wreck of the "Monitor" undergoing conservation.
