Palo Santo - B is a Travel Bug Dog Tag Travel Bug, traveling from geocache to geocache on a very specific mission.

If you do not intend to log your visit on the Geocaching.com web site, please DO NOT TAKE THIS ITEM. Its travels and its progress requires you to log that it is being taken from this geocache. You will also need to log when you place it in another geocache. It's easy!

Palo Santo - Heiliges Holz

Palo Santo bedeutet "heiliger Baum bzw. Zweig" und ist der Name für die Bursera graveolens. Er wurde  von den spanischen Siedlern  auch „Quebracho“ genannt, da die besondere Härte seines Holzes selbst starke Äxte zum Brechen brachte. Er ist ein mittelgroßer Baum, der über 18 Meter hoch werden kann,  mit  vielen Ästen und Früchten in Form von dunkelgrünen Kapsel. Dieser Baum kommt  in den südamerikanischen Regionen  von Peru, Ecuador, Bolivien und Mato Grosso (Brasilien) vor. Ein Holz, das mit viel Copal Harz durchtränkt ist. Es hat halt einen speziellen Duft. Wer schnuppern möchte, darf mal kurz anglimmen. Die Verwendung von Palo Santo geht unter der indianischen Bevölkerung auf eine Jahrtausende alte Tradition zurück. Die Inka-Priester und Schamanen nutzen das Holz. Es wird auch zum Anzünden von heiligen Feuern bei spirituellen  Zeremonien verwendet. Dadurch wird der Raum bzw. Umgebung, wo die Zeremonie stattfindet, geschützt. Ein Holzstück hält schon ziemlich lang.Ist eine Langzeit-Anlage, wenn man  nur ab und zu räuchert. Man kann es immer wieder verwenden bis es komplett niedergebrannt ist. Böse Geister sollen diesen Duft von Palo Santo scheuen, Mücken sicherlich auch. Das Gute hingegen wird von ihm angezogen. Daher sende ich es auf Reisen, möge es in  gute Hände kommen und wandern.

 

 

 

Palo Santo - Holy Wood

Palo Santo means "sacred tree or branch" and is the name for Bursera graveolens.
