This is no ordinary geocaching trading item!

SPUTNIX 1 is a Travel Satellite Geocoin Travel Bug, traveling from geocache to geocache on a very specific mission.

Trackable ItemIf you do not intend to log your visit on the Geocaching.com web site, please DO NOT TAKE THIS ITEM. Its travels and its progress requires you to log that it is being taken from this geocache. You will also need to log when you place it in another geocache. It's easy!

If you are willing to log your part of this Trackable's journey and place it in another geocache as soon as possible (after you log your find), grab it from this geocache.

My Current Goal:

SPUTNIX 1 was the 1st artificial satellite launched by the Soviet Union on 4 Oct 1957, during the International Geophysical Year.  It travelled at 29,000km (18,000 mph), taking 96.2 minutes to complete a full orbit of the Earth.  It emitted radio signals at 20.005 and 40.002MHz which were monitored by amateur radio operators throughout the world.  These signals continued for 22 days until the transmitter batteries ran out on 26 Oct 1957.  SPUTNIX 1 burned up on 4 Jan 1958 as it fell from orbit, re-entering the Earth's atmosphere - after travelling 60 million km (37 million miles) and spending 3 months in orbit!

This satellite TB (SPUTNIX 1) would like to move from cache to cache, whilst making notes on what type of radio stations cachers listen to......
