This is no ordinary geocaching trading item!

Captain Oates is a Travel Bug Dog Tag Travel Bug, traveling from geocache to geocache on a very specific mission.

Trackable ItemIf you do not intend to log your visit on the Geocaching.com web site, please DO NOT TAKE THIS ITEM. Its travels and its progress requires you to log that it is being taken from this geocache. You will also need to log when you place it in another geocache. It's easy!

If you are willing to log your part of this Trackable's journey and place it in another geocache as soon as possible (after you log your find), grab it from this geocache.

My Current Goal:

This is a very special travel bug to commemorate the centenary of Capt Lawrence Oates’ death on his 32nd birthday, 17 March 1912.
Its mission is to travel all the way to The South Pole from the site of the Oates’ Family home Meanwoodside, now Meanwood Park in Leeds.
This commemorative pin badge was purchased at the Polar Museum in Cambridge and kindly donated by Geoff Reiss in honour of the unveiling of the Oates memorial today at noon at Meanwood Park. For more information please go to www.oates100.com
