This is no ordinary geocaching trading item!

Freedom - Free State Project Travel Bug #1 is a Travel Bug Dog Tag Travel Bug, traveling from geocache to geocache on a very specific mission.

Trackable ItemIf you do not intend to log your visit on the Geocaching.com web site, please DO NOT TAKE THIS ITEM. Its travels and its progress requires you to log that it is being taken from this geocache. You will also need to log when you place it in another geocache. It's easy!

My Current Goal:

The porcupine was chosen as the logo of The Free State Project because porcupines are cute and non-aggressive, but you don’t want to step on them! FSP members liked the "Don't Tread on Me" snake, but wanted something more original and friendly. In Native American traditions, the porcupine symbolizes defense when threatened, but allows others their space.

This porcupine travel bug has been named after the New Hampshire town of Freedom. It's name reflects this town's history. In 1831 the village of North Effingham voted to secede from Effingham, and in 1832, the new town celebrated its independence by changing its name to Freedom.

This little porcupine wants to travel across America, spreading the good word about The Free State Project. He would like to return to New Hampshire eventually, to welcome all the new arrivals!
