This is no ordinary geocaching trading item!

USS. Knapp DD-653 Travel Bug is a Travel Bug Dog Tag Travel Bug, traveling from geocache to geocache on a very specific mission.

Trackable ItemIf you do not intend to log your visit on the Geocaching.com web site, please DO NOT TAKE THIS ITEM. Its travels and its progress requires you to log that it is being taken from this geocache. You will also need to log when you place it in another geocache. It's easy!

If you are willing to log your part of this Trackable's journey and place it in another geocache as soon as possible (after you log your find), grab it from this geocache.

My Current Goal:

The bridge of the USS Knapp is on display at the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria Oregon ... This bug's current goal is to visit that display.

There are still at least 4 (more) Fletcher Class Destroyers preserved as museum pieces throughout the world.
The USS Cassin Young DD-793 in Boston MA.
The USS Kidd DD-661 in Baton Rouge LA.
The USS Charrette DD-581 in Faliro Greece

... There may be a fifth Fletcher Still around, if it is, it is the (I believe) only surviving example of the round bridge Fletcher, The USS John Rodgers DD-574 ... last recorded around  Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Mexico. (I thought I found a site that mentioned it being towed home to be scrapped ... but it's hard to track down)

And of course the USS Sullivans DD-537 in our home town of Buffalo NY.

I would like to visit these ships, and as many other destroyers as I can before I return home to be decomissioned.

Thank You.
