Geocache Description:

The Green County Barn Quilts project started in 2008, and by the end of 2010 the 100th barn quilt was installed. Barn quilts are painted wooden squares (designed like one block of a real quilt pattern), generally 8 x 8 feet in size. Some are located on "working" barns, and others are displayed on "retired" barns. It's not as challenging as geocaching, but hunting for the barn quilt locations is a true adventure in experiencing the roads less traveled of the Green County countryside.

The barn quilt design is fashioned after a picture made from wooden pieces by Lawrence H. Karlen. Lawrence (1927-2009) was an avid woodworker and enjoyed sharing his various wooden creations with family and friends. The barn quilt is a memorial to him, thus the quilt name Grandpa’s Delight.

Visit this quilt's web page at Green County Barns Quilts. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Steve Johnston of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
