Geocache Description:

Spring Bud Frog.  Ribbit!

BRING YOUR OWN PEN!! Original contents include cool small toys, buttons, log book and a trackabe geocoin. WOW!!

My first cache ever!

This is one of six frog brothers that lives in the Austin, TX area. Spring Bud Frog is one of the four smaller-sized brothers. He is a known prankster and like to hide in places where he can spring out and surprise people. However, the most stealthy of cachers can sometimes catch Spring Bud Frog unawares and if they say "boo" they will give him a little startle!

On the trail to froggy there are some moderate elevation changes, but nothing most youngsters can't handle. There are some approaches that require traversing some very steep slopes, but these routes can be avoided without too much effort. Do be careful of bikers! Sometimes they go a bit fast.

FUN FROG FACT (from www.kidzone.ws): Frogs have very good eyesight. They bulge out the sides of their heads in order for the frog to see in nearly all directions. Every different species of frog has his or her own look. They come in many colors, patterns and sizes.

KIDS!!! Upload your drawings of Spring Bud Frog leaping out to surprise someone. Or you can draw one of you surprising him!! Fun!!

SPOILERS AHEAD:

I warned you...

...this one is right along a public trail.  If you travel on the trail from Grotto Double Take cache (GC1CNHF)...starting right underneath the small (privately owned) gazebo overlooking the grotto...towards the Cliffhanger cache (GCA7F9)...froggy will be along the way. From the gazebo headed towards Cliffhanger, take a right turn almost immediately at the first fork up the hill, then take a left turn at the second fork (at the Walnut Creek Map sign) and stay on the trail as it snakes around a couple times. Seek froggy!!

Congrats to Mh171 for FTF!

UPDATE, October 2021: Spring Bud Frog hasn't been found in a while and he likes to see people!  In retrospect, the difficulty level of finding him is probably higher than a 2, but in order to not mess up previous finders' fizzy grids, new, amazing hints will be added to make finding him a bit easier.  If you are up for a challenge, please feel free to ignore the hints!
