Geocache Description:

The third installment in my Texas Music series, this cache focuses on Fort Worth Grammy winners. As with the first two volumes, you'll watch a short video to identify the musicians and find the coordinates.

Tree Trekker's Texas Music Collection - Volume Three:
Fort Worth at the Grammys

Every year since 1959, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has presented Grammy awards to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry during the prior year. Over the years, Fort Worth musicians have won Grammys in a wide range of categories. To find this cache, you'll need to identify some of those local winners from video clips of their performances, and use information about their awards to determine the coordinates.

To start, click the following link to view a video compilation featuring nine Fort Worth Grammy winners:

Fort Worth Grammy Winners

Now, find the values of A through J:

A.   At the very first Grammy awards ceremony, held in 1959, Grammy Winner A received the award for Best Classical Performance - Instrumental, for his album recording of the composition he is shown performing in his clip. He won another Grammy in the same category the following year at the 2nd annual ceremony in 1960. Many years later, he received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 200X.
A = X + Grammy Winner A's clip number.

B.   Grammy Winner B won a total of six Grammys for "King of the Road" and the album it appeared on at the 8th annual awards ceremony in 1966. He won a total of five Grammys, including awards for the song performed in his video clip and its album, at the Xth annual ceremony.
B = X + Grammy Winner B's clip number.

C.   Grammy Winner C received a Grammy at the 4Xth annual awards in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song performed in her video clip.
C = X + Grammy Winner C's clip number.

D.   Grammy Winner D was honored for Best Contemporary Blues Album at both the 44th and 48th Grammy awards. At the 3Xth awards, he and Bonnie Raitt won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo.
D = X + Grammy Winner D's clip number.

E.   Grammy Winner E served as the primary tenor sax soloist in Glenn Miller's Orchestra and later led the Glenn Miller Band after Miller's death. His 1941 recording of the song featured in his clip received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award over fifty years later, in 199X.
E = X + Grammy Winner E's clip number.

F.   The father of the "free jazz" movement, Grammy Winner F is considered one of the prime innovators in jazz and modern music. The saxophonist and composer received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 200X.
F = X + Grammy Winner F's clip number.

G.   Grammy Winner G, a country singer who had never had an acting lesson, landed the lead role in Broadway's Les Miserables. In his clip, he performs a song featured on Les Miserables - The Complete Symphonic Recording, which received the Grammy for Best Musical Cast Show Album at the X3rd awards.
G = X + Grammy Winner G's clip number.

H.   Grammy Winner H won the award for Best R & B Instrumental Performance at the 1Xth Grammy Awards for his saxophone work on "Games People Play." His clip features another number - "Memphis Soul Stew."
H = X + Grammy Winner H's clip number.

J.   Grammy Winner J has received at least nine Grammys, from the award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album in 1997 to the Best Gospel Song award in 2012. His clip features him performing "Imagine Me," which earned the Best Gospel Song Grammy at the 4Xth awards.
J = X + Grammy Winner J's clip number.

You have now calculated the values of A through J based on Grammys awarded to nine Fort Worth musicians. There's just one problem; two of those musicians, although associated with Fort Worth, were not actually born here. One was born in Lubbock and one in Shreveport, Louisiana. Before proceeding further, subtract 2 from the letter that matches the winner born in Lubbock, and subtract 4 from the letter matching the winner from Louisiana.

Now calculate the following:

u = C - E
v = H - F
w = C - D
x = J - G
y = A - G
z = J - B

The cache is located at:

N 32° 43.uvw
W 97° 10.xyz

Park at the posted coordinates (a bit tricky!) and make a short walk (less than 100 yards) to the cache.

Please take a (mostly) Texas Grammy compilation CD from the cache, and let me know if they need to be re-stocked.

Congratulations to TXvR for First-to-Find!

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
