Misc Info The first Cemetery Quest I created in Washington was so well liked that I decided to recreate the same thing here. The USGS lists 53 cemeteries in Beaufort County that aren't co-located with a church. Research at the library turned up several more. A few of them were large or well maintained sites, which is not what I was looking for. I hit the road with a list of around 70 cemeteries. Six of them I could find no remaining trace of and two I discovered already have geocaches in them. Sadly, the vast majority of them are either located on private property or are marked Keep Out. That was something I didn't encounter out west. I started with 23 cemeteries for this quest but that number has been reduced to 18 due to having to archive some over time. Have fun and enjoy sightseeing the County...I have.

NOTE These caches are in locations that have religious and possibly familial importance to people in the area. Some are located in communities or near homes. As with any geocache, it's always advisable to go seeking when there aren't curious onlookers around. This is perhaps doubly true given the nature of this series of caches. If there are people in the area, I'd advise passing on by and returning later. It might be difficult trying to explain to a local that you're playing a game where his family is buried.
