This cache has been hidden for the Vogrie VII event being held on the 8th October 2017. Come along and enjoy the beautiful autumn colours in the stunning grounds of the historic Vogrie Country Park. There are 11.5 miles of signed footpaths passing through the sweeping parkland, woodlands and the River Tyne Valley. There are many fine trees that tend to confuse your GPS, we have tried our hardest to get accurate coordinates but please be warned!
We were very proud to hear that hillbagger had received one of the Virtual awards, released by Groundspeak this year. It's very well deserved for some fun, fiendish caches that he has thought up for Vogrie and follows nicely on from the NGAS nominations he has received in the last two years. Very kindly he's allowed it to be added to our haul of caches for Vogrie VII - allowing cachers on the day to have the chance to find eight different cache types. So more about the virtual itself.......
Oor Wullie is the iconic wee Scottish laddie from the fictional town of Auchenshoogle. The image of Wullie sitting on his upturned bucket wearing his famous black dungarees is as familiar to Scots as Edinburgh Castle. In 2016, Oor Wullie celebrated the 80th anniversary of his first appearance in the Sunday Post. Part of the celebrations included an Oor Wullie bucket trail around Dundee with fifty giant, differently decorated Oor Wullie statues around the city. After the event, these statues were sold at auction, raising money for charity, and have all found new homes - Braveheart Oor Wullie can be found in central Edinburgh. While Vogrie doesn't have its own statue we hope to have the next best thing with this virtual
To log this virtual we ask you to take a seat, a picture and embrace your inner child! At the coordinates you will find a nice spot to sit and be photographed in your best Oor Wullie style! As per Groundspeak requirements it is absolutely fine if your face is not in the picture - for example a picture of your foot or GPS device at the location would be fine. We hope most will feel the fun and do their best impressions of a fun, childhood friend!!!
Many thanks to head ranger Jo Cooke and the Midlothian County Rangers for giving us permission to hide the caches.
