Geocache Description:

Congratulations to Gone2Camp on FTF.

This is my 90th placed geocache!

This cache is tucked away in an unspoiled canyon. The looming sandstone walls bear mute witness to eons of earth's upheaval. To learn more about the forces that created Devil's Punchbowl, visit their website.

This canyon is where I go to find solitude and to escape the "hustle and bustle" of day to day life. I found tracks made by Mule Deer, Raccoons, Coyotes, and Bobcats, on the day of my hike. Nature serenaded me with the calls of Mountain Bluebirds, and the trickle of the creek itself.

Cache Specifics

  • You're looking for a 30 cal ammo box, filled with swag.
  • The hike to this cache is 2 miles round trip.
  • The majority of the hike is along, and in Devil's Punchbowl Creek.
  • Enter the canyon at N34 25.280, W117 50.424
  • Continue following the creek until you get within a few hundred feet of the cache.
  • The cache earns it's 4 1/2 star terrain, at the final portion of your hike. You must scramble up a very loose and unstable gulley filled with broken slabs of Sandstone.
  • Be sure to find my 70th placed cache, and my 80th placed cache nearby.
  • A Forest Adventure Pass is needed to park.
  • Sturdy hiking boots are a must.
  • Be on the lookout for snakes in the summer, and Mtn Lions all year long.
