Geocache Description:

Above 10,000 feet! On a black diamond 4WD road up Laural Canyon is a cache dedicated to two cachers whom any cache hider would be honored have visit one of their caches.

If you like EXTREME 4WD park and grabs, this cache is for YOU!

My first truly great experience as a cache hider began right on this spot.

When I discovered geocaching on the last day of February, 2003, THIS was the second spot I thought of to place a cache. The FIRST is in a wilderness area and thus unlistable on this site.

I didn't know much about geocaching at the time, but I wanted to showcase some truly spectacular places that I had enjoyed for years.

I set up an adventure cache series with a bonus cache and the final location was within a few yards of these coords. The bonus cache was to be named and renamed for the team with the quickest time getting to the all of the coords that led to this location. Read the logs: (visit link)

The first two finders actually teamed up on the trail and formed a friendship that has lasted to this day and it's to them that this cache is dedicated. Their logs on my caches at that time really made my week. They have done the same on many of my later hides in this area.

I had only hoped that folks would experience the off-road adventure the way I had planned, but their logs made every bit of effort, time, and expense worthwile. They proved to me that people would take the time to experience the journey instead of just looking for a box of trinkets and a log to sign. It is for these types of cachers that most of my hides have been placed.

Eventually their time was beaten and the name of the cache was changed, but I never forgot the inspiration for my hiding technique to pick locations for my caches that would inspire many finders to expound upon their experience of hunting my cache and to go home happy EVEN with a DNF.
