Geocache Description:

Squirrel ditch borders the Huddersfield Golf Club and is nestled no more than 5 minutes from the town centre. The wood runs along the natural path of a stream at the bottom Of Oaken Bank Plantation. This cache is the home cache of the Alpha Boomerang Geocoin - if this GC is in cache, please leave it for the owner to retrieve!

Once the grounds of a country house, there is a lot of old stonework hidden in this public wood, along with the remains of an old Roman road.

The best place to park is at the bottom of Dog Kennel Bank road and enter the woods on the well used path to the right of the driveway leading into Longley School.

The cache is a clear, lockable, plastic container near a path, but well hidden. This wood is well loved by local dog walkers, so you'll have to be sneaky. The co-ord given are within 21M accuracy, due to the trees, but the clue should more than help - Just remember to keep bearing left from the car park; there's quite a few paths in there.

This is the starting point of the three Lower Houses Circular caches - a series caches which are easy to walk between and will show you three urban woods in Huddersfield. These caches were originally places for children and their parents, and were filled with things for kids; you are welcome to keep up the tradition. The next cache is Oaken Bank (LHC 2/3).
