In my job as a
911/dispatcher, I interact with many police and fire agencies. I
have started a series by placing a cache near the fire stations to
honor the many volunteer and paid departments I have the privilege
to dispatch on a daily basis.
The Town of Menasha, Wisconsin, Fire Department
was organized in 1938 as a joint volunteer department with the Town
of Neenah, Wisconsin, to provide fire emergency response to the
citizens of both communities. The two departments separated in 1980
at which time the Town of Menasha Board of Supervisors became the
governing body of the Town of Menasha Fire Department and is
responsible for maintaining the mission statement and all policies
governing the department. Although the Town of Menasha Fire
Department is now a combination Full Time/Paid On Call department,
the spirit and foundation of voluntarism continues to drive the
organization forward.
