The With the Beatles cache traces the footsteps of the fab four young Oslo men depicted by author Lars Saabye Christensen in his popular novel «Beatles». To find the cache you must visit three of the places where they, according to the story, camped out in Nordmarka one summer holiday in the mid-60’s. There’s even a bonus cache near the place where they spent the fourth and last night of their magical and increasingly mysterious tour from Stryken to the city.
You may be surprised at how little «The Beatles Trail» has changed, in terms of connecting places Oslo people go to when they head for a hard day's hike under tangerine trees and marmalade skies. You’ve read the book, right? No? Well, I recommend you do. But that is not strictly required to find the cache. Also, most of the book is about very different things than hiking in Oslomarka.
However, reading at least the «Yellow Submarine» chapter of this little gem of contemporary Norwegian literature will certainly make your search easier and more enjoyable, maybe even help you make sense of some of the details in descriptions, hiding places, and the bonus.

Each cache contains a laminated card with a brief quote from the book, plus a part of the final coordinates. Add up the three sets of numbers, and you will find not only peace of mind is waiting there, but also the «With the Beatles» treasure trove.
The original cache was an ammo box, chained to Norwegian wood. However, it got cruelly muggled. It lives on as a military food container.

Please be stealthy when retrieving the cache. The Fool on the Hill sometimes stays nearby. In summer, other muggles may come in through the bathroom window. The cache is snow proof and winter available. The whole magical mystery tour leading to this cache is doable in one day on bicycle or skis. All locations are close to forest roads in summer, and proper ski tracks in winter.
Ready? Now put on Sgt. Pepper, the White Album or some other gem in your substantial Beatles collection, and get out that Nordmarka map.
