Geocache Description:

This is the first of the AMS (Amsterdam Monument Series) caches.
Keep an eye out for further installments!

This cache is in the centre of the wonderful city of Amsterdam and leads to a unique attribute to the city.
The waypoints are not randomly chosen, but strongly relate to the cache location.
The cache can easily be done by foot or by bike, but going into central Amsterdam by car can't be recommended, and going from waypoint to waypoint is near impossible.

This cache starts at one of the most famous locations in the city centre at waypoint 1.

The name of this square was known throughout the world, especially during the flower power era. A = the number of letters in the name of the square.
The monument on this square has depictions of humans on it. B = the number of humans on the monument.
The back side of the monument has two distinct numbers on it. C = the second digit of either number.
The monument is ‘guarded’ in front of it by lions. D = the number of lions.
The monument is based upon a number of circular steps, favorite for people to sit on. E = the number of steps.

Waypoint 2 is at a building in a small street of Amsterdam. The building’s name is “Ons Huis” (“Our Home”). It’s indeed a place where a distinct minority can feel safe and at home.

There are a number of nude portraits on the windows of “Our Home”. This number + D – A = F
The name of the organization that is situated at this location is on a large sign on the wall. It’s a three letter name. G = the number which is the middle letter of the name.
H = the second digit of the number of the address of “Our Home”.

Waypoint 3 is at probably THE most famous monument/museum in Amsterdam.

Adding up the numbers in the address of this monument, one comes to double digits. Only 1 digit is needed as I.
J = the number of the stop of the museum boat in front of this museum.

This gives you all the information you need to get to the cache location at waypoint 4.

The cache is a small plastic box, which contains (amongst other things) a log, a pen and a pencil. PLEASE, leave those in for the next visitor.

At birth, it contained a gift certificate for the first finder to spend very near to the cache.

This cache is the home to 2 travel bugs (‘Love From Holland’ (TB121B0) & ‘Human Rights Are Gay Rights’ (TB11RQ5), which both have the goal to leave home for a trip around the world (in opposite directions), returning to this cache after their adventure.

I hope you’ll enjoy the city, some of its monuments and the cache!
