Ninham Mt. Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

YackersInTheWoods: Unfortuneately, I must archive this cache. I have had ample time to restore it but there just aren't enough hours in the day it seems. Hopefully, someone else will re-establish it as it is a great caching location.

Geocache Description:

Caching, a short (20 minutes one way) hike and magnificent views all rolled into one.

Didn't have a clue that this tower even existed until I read a recent 'Hike of the Week' article in the Poughkeepsie Journal Players section, the author of which is the clue. Even though its a little out of our normal caching territory, we love fire towers and decided to add this one to our other two tower caches ( Lets Get High and King of the Mountain). Don't know if the tower cabin is ever locked but it will not prevent you from finding the cache if it is. GPS had quite a bit of bounce so averaged all the readings.

To get to the cache, we took 301 east from Route 9 for 15.3 miles to Gipsy Trail Road (41), just before the West Branch Reservoir causeway. Go 2.3 miles to the DEC Ninham Mountain Multiple Use Area sign on the left. Continue for a half mile to the parking lot at the end of the road.

Cache is a magnetic key holder. Please bring your own pen to sign the log.
